We are deeply saddened by the distressing circumstances highlighted in the case involving Robert Bush and Legacy Independent Funeral Directors. Our thoughts remain with all the families who have been affected by these events and the additional grief and uncertainty they have experienced.
We would like to clarify an important point regarding funeral plans. While it has been reported that fraudulent funeral plans were sold by the business, these arrangements were not EPS funeral plans. At no stage were the plans transferred to, registered with, or administered by EPS, and EPS did not receive any funds in relation to those arrangements. Investigations have alleged that monies taken for funeral plans were not passed to the appropriate providers or institutions for safeguarding.
EPS remains committed to the highest standards of transparency, customer care and financial protection. We work closely with our funeral director partners to ensure that funeral plan funds are properly managed and that the interests of customers and their families are protected.
This case serves as a reminder of the trust families place in funeral professionals at their most vulnerable moments. We are proud to work alongside funeral directors across the UK who uphold exceptional standards of dignity, compassion and professionalism every day. Their dedication continues to reinforce the confidence that families should rightly expect from our industry.
We will continue to support our funeral director partners, colleagues and any families seeking clarity regarding EPS plans, while remaining focused on promoting the high standards of care, integrity and accountability that the funeral profession represents at its best.
