George Stacey Family Funeral Directors was established in 1872 by James Stacey and is now the oldest surviving funeral firm in Hednesford.

James’ son George, born in 1881, later joined and expanded the business with the purchase of a house in Booth Street opposite the business and land below for his stables. Here, he kept Belgian black horses which were used for pulling the hearse because of their placid temperament and regal appearance.

The business has since been passed down to James’ great-grandchildren, George, Robert and Anne. And today, the family connection continues with Christine, James’ Great-Great-Granddaughter and 5th generation of the Stacey family funeral directors.

As a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), George Stacey Family Funeral Directors is proud to provide a full range of funeral services, including pre-payment funeral plans for those who wish to plan ahead. Supported by Ecclesiastical Planning Services, its funeral plans are locally packaged and priced and delivered to the very high professional standards that have become a hallmark of the business.

Choosing your funeral plan – important information

You can buy a plan for yourself or on behalf of someone else. The funeral plans offered are designed to cover the funeral director's own costs. As long as they carry out the funeral and the requirements don't change, neither you nor your family will be asked to pay a penny more for these costs, regardless of when the plan is needed or what happens to costs in the meantime.

The plans can also include a contribution towards any third party costs (also known as disbursements), such as burial or cremation costs. Please refer to the Key Features Document and Terms and Conditions for more information.
