Questions & Answers...

Here are the answers to some of the questions you might want to ask

Is there an age limit or are there any health restrictions?
No, you can purchase a plan at any age and there are no health restrictions.

What if I cannot keep up the payments?
If you run into financial difficulties you can either “freeze” your plan (ie leave it part-paid) or cancel your plan (see below).  If you freeze your plan and re-start it later, the cost will be re-calculated according to funeral prices at that time.

What if I die before the payments have been completed?
By starting an Easy Way Funeral Plan you have settled what kind of funeral you require – this will be a great help to your family or executors because it saves them from having to guess what you would have wanted.  Furthermore you will have paid something towards the funeral costs, even if not the whole amount.  If this is of particular concern to you, you could consider paying for the whole plan within the first year, or within the first five years, in which case you would also qualify for a discount on the total plan price.

What if I want to pay off the outstanding balance in one go?
You can pay a lump sum at any time to clear the outstanding balance.  Depending on how long the plan has left to run you might qualify for a discount on the total plan price – Funeral Planning Services will advise you on the exact amount due at the time.

How do I know that the money will be safe?
All payments are made directly into Funeral Planning Trust, a national fund established by Funeral Planning Services to provide long term security, with HSBC Trust Company (UK) Ltd as Custodian Trustee.  The accounts of Funeral Planning Trust are monitored annually by a professional actuary and checked by independent auditors and the Funeral Planning Authority.  The payment for the funeral can only be withdrawn when the service has been provided.

What if funeral costs increase in the future?
Once you have paid for your plan we will issue a guarantee certificate to confirm that the funeral directors’ services listed will be provided without further charge to you, your family or your estate.  This is one of the most important benefits of the Easy Way Funeral Plan and why it is so popular.

What if I die while away on holiday?
Each plan includes removal within the local area, but if death should occur elsewhere additional transport can be arranged in consultation with your family or executor.  Most travel insurance policies include the cost of bringing you home should death occur overseas.

Can I buy a plan for someone else?
Yes – please make it clear on the application form if the plan is not for you personally   and let us know the name and address for correspondence.

Can a plan cover more than one person?
No, each plan covers one person for one funeral only.

What if I change my mind later?
You can cancel your plan at any time and receive a refund of all your payments except for a cancellation charge to cover administration costs (the amount is noted on the price list) or a full refund if you return your documents within the first month.  You will always have the right to change your mind about your plan or about any particular funeral wishes.
